PSES IRT and GLARN Partner with the Scottish Peace Platform to Explore Lessons from Colombia’s Peace Process
Together with the Glasgow Latin American Research Network (GLARN), the Peaceful, Secure and Empowered Societies (PSES) Interdisciplinary Research Theme have been awarded £4,000 by the Scottish Peace Platform in support of a programme of events in 2026-27 on the theme: “Ten Years of the Colombian Peace Process: Lessons for Scotland and the World”.
The year 2026 marks the tenth anniversary of Colombia’s Final Agreement to End the Armed Conflict and Build a Stable and Lasting Peace. To mark this milestone, GLARN and PSES IRT will convene researchers and organisations with relevant expertise to deliver a programme of events that reflects on a decade of peacebuilding in Colombia. The programme will draw out lessons from civil society, policy, and practice that are relevant to Scotland and the wider international community, at a time of escalating political violence worldwide and a growing need for dialogue, reconciliation, and peacemaking.
The Scottish Peace Platform (SPP) is an initiative funded by the Scottish Government to connect, coordinate, and amplify Scotland’s vibrant peace sector. Both the Peaceful, Secure and Empowered Societies (PSES) Interdisciplinary Research Theme and the Glasgow Latin American Research Network (GLARN) are member organisations of the SPP and are represented on its Advisory Board.
