Research

On Monday, 27 July 2026, we held the first  Global Health and Environment Conference 2026 at the Advanced Research Centre, University of Glasgow. The conference featured 30 talks and oral and poster presentations. The conference attracted over 100 participants from across the world.

The discussion covered a range of topics: the role of the natural environment, policy evaluations, economic valuation, and public health interventions. Other topics covered were the art of walking, comedy and mental health, applying the doughnut economics approach to planetary health, the role of the NHS, food systems transformation, food entrepreneurs, food waste, and food poverty.

There was conversation around oil & gas decommissioning, business resilience, One Health, air pollution and urban green spaces. Additionally, we had conversations about carbon hotspots in early-phase clinical trials, chemical pollution, youth in deprived coastal communities, and collaboration with the Hungarian Museum.

We're also delighted to be currently planning a special issue article collection based on conference submissions. Many thanks to all who participated in the conference.
