Our KTPs are three-way partnerships between your business, the University of Glasgow and a KTP Associate who works within your organisation to ensure that the project is delivered. Through a KTP, you can embed expertise, generate new knowledge, expand capability and foster a culture of innovation within your organisation. Innovate UK provide between 50% and 75% of the eligible costs. KTPs can last between 12 and 36 months. - Research facilities and workspaces

Case studies
KTP Smart Energy — a route to net zero and beyond
The Crichton Trust has been hosting a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the University of Glasgow since 2022. Together, we are examining how we use energy, and building an evidence-based route map to net zero and beyond. In this video, Dr Sonam Norbu, the Crichton's KTP Associate, and Prof David Flynn of the University of Glasgow join Gwilym Gibbons and Jennifer Challinor from the Crichton Trust to talk about the project and its impact.
Data, AI and cybersecurity collaboration – SP Energy Networks
Our multi‑year partnership with SPEN will create a sector‑leading ‘Cyber Defence Lab’, fund PhD and graduate apprenticeship programmes, and develop Data, Cyber, Digital and AI skills needed to deliver a resilient, net zero electricity system. Together, we are addressing current and future challenges in energy systems through data‑driven innovation, cybersecurity expertise and workforce development.
Award-winning KTP with Soapworks
Following a successful pilot project, Soapworks Ltd. – the largest third-party manufacturer of bar soaps and cleansing bars for the body, hair and face – committed to strengthen its relationship with the University drawing upon our significant experience in rheology, computational fluid dynamics and problem-solving. Consequently, the idea of a KTP emerged, aiming to comprehensively investigate Soapworks' syndet production difficulties via a hybrid strategy of computer simulations, lab experiments and practical trials. The project sought not only to provide Soapworks with actionable solutions for greater process efficiency and improved product quality, but also to educate and empower staff, helping them adopt a scientific, evidence-based and data-driven approach for problem-solving and embrace innovation.
From the lab to healthcare and electronics companies
The Microelectronics Lab (meLAB) is shaping medical and industrial applications through research in three main areas: wearable and implantable medical devices, ASIC chip design for various applications from ultrasound systems to cryoelectronics for quantum computing, and advanced materials, including printing technologies. Their work is already making a difference. The lab’s spinout company Neuranics develops ultrasensitive magnetic sensors for consumer electronics and neural interfaces; and NEUROBITE developings biodegradable implantable medical devices for monitoring and treating neurological conditions such as post-stroke symptoms and epilepsy.
