Health Innovation Hub Grand Opening Month
This March, the Living Laboratory marks the opening of the new Health Innovation Hub, delivered in partnership with Kadans Science Partner.
To celebrate this milestone, we’re hosting a month-long programme of activity bringing together events and opportunities from across the Living Laboratory and our wider partner network. The programme will showcase healthcare innovation in its many forms, creating opportunities for learning, connection, and exchange.

NHS GGC Apprenticeship Pathways Event

The Living Lab is excited to join NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde for its Apprenticeship Pathways Event, taking place at the Queen Elizabeth Teaching and Learning Centre.
Our team will be there to showcase the wide range of career pathways within healthcare research and innovation, inspiring teachers, parents, and young people alike.
Kickstart your Career in Life Sciences

The Living Lab joins this in-person networking event for MVLS and multidisciplinary students, designed to help you engage with leading employers, researchers and professionals from across the life sciences sector.
You will have the opportunity to gain insights into career pathways and the skills needed to succeed, explore potential projects and collaborations within the University, connect with industry professionals, and discover job, internship and research opportunities.
High School & College Open Doors Day
- Date: Monday 9th & Tuesday 10th March
- Location: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Campus
The Living Laboratory invites high school pupils and college students to our annual Open Doors Day - an opportunity to explore careers and pathways within Glasgow’s health innovation ecosystem.
Learners can expect activities such as micro pipetting and blood typing, career speed dating sessions, and a behind-the-scenes tour of a 7T MRI facility - discovering how innovation, technology, and healthcare come together and the exciting opportunities this field offers.
MDMC Webinar: AI in UK Hospital Medicine

Dr Dervla Carroll (Digital Health Validation Lab) joins MDMC to provide a structured overview of the AI adoption pathway in UK hospital medicine - highlighting the practical challenges and opportunities at each stage.
This webinar is designed for clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals seeking a clear understanding of how AI can be responsibly implemented in hospital settings.
HiH Community Celebration
- Date: Thursday 12 March
We warmly invite local residents who contributed to our Woven Tapestry Project to a special community celebration marking the completion of the artwork - brought to life through shared stories, creativity, and reflections on health, place, and community.
This event provides an opportunity for members of the community to see the completed artwork on display in the new Health Innovation Hub, celebrate what has been created together, and learn more about the new building.
Big Data & AI in Healthcare: Teacher CPD Event

In collaboration with the University of Glasgow's Centre for Data & AI, we invite you to a new free online CPD session for Biology and Computer Science Secondary teachers.
The session will explore how AI and Big Data are being used across research and healthcare to improve disease diagnosis and treatment. Local researchers will showcase real-world applications, alongside the range of careers emerging in AI, data science and related fields.
Growing SMEs: Why Ecosystems Matter

The Living Laboratory invites SMEs to this free panel and networking evening event at the new Health Innovation Hub. Our panel will be chaired by Jacqui Young, Senior Public Affairs Manager at Roche and Chair of the Association of British HealthTech Industries (ABHI) Scottish Group.
Following a Q&A, we invite all attendees to join us for a drinks reception – an exciting opportunity to connect and build your ecosystem.
HiH Community Celebration: Local Schools
- Date: Thursday 19 March
We are excited to be joined by local Govan schools who contributed to our Mosaic Tiling Project for a special celebration event. The day will feature hands-on STEM activities and a guided tour of the building - providing a chance for the pupils to see their mosaic artwork proudly displayed.
This mosaic was created through conversations on what health innovation means to them. The result is a vibrant celebration of curiosity and creativity, and a true reflection of the voices of young people in our community.
British Science Week at Glasgow Science Centre

Learners will have the chance to create their own splatter art piece that showcases how imaging can be used to determine healthy and diseased cells, alongside a pocket microscope activity to observe the invisible world of cells.
