Postgraduate Teaching Committee

Remit

Responsible for monitoring the quality, enhancement and provision of postgraduate certificates, diplomas and degrees by taught course.

  • To receive reports on admissions; student evaluation and feedback; student progress; and developing, promoting and monitoring taught postgraduate programmes.
  • To consider proposals for new programmes and courses, changes to existing provision and amendment of regulations, recommending, where appropriate, approval to College and the Academic Standards Committee.
  • To share best practice and develop initiatives for the recruitment of students, including the provision of publicity materials.
  • To support distance and other innovative learning.

Papers or reports for Postgraduate Teaching Committee (PTC) should be submitted as follows:

  • with a title that reflects the content of the paper or report;
  • with a Cover Sheet, which should specify what PTC is to do with the paper (i.e. to consider, discuss, approve or recommend to) and if there are any resource implications;
  • the paper should be submitted electronically. If unavailable, please provide a hard copy;
  • documents should include the name of the author, the date of issue and page numbers.

Status of Information 
In the light of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act, authors of papers should also indicate on the Cover Sheet if they wish the paper to be treated as confidential and be reserved to committee members only. The Convener will then judge if this is necessary.
