GlasGOw Global Awards

The GlasGOw Global Awards scheme rewards University of Glasgow undergraduate students for participation in international activities while studying. If you have engaged with the international community in Glasgow or abroad by taking part in international conferences or teams, or mentoring visiting students, if you have explored the educational possibilities offered in voluntary work or a research or work placement abroad, if you have spent time in a partner institution via our various exchange / study abroad schemes, or if you have simply studied a foreign language for credit, then this is for you.

Your international activities will earn you points towards a Bronze (75+ points), Silver (150+ points) or Gold award (200+ points). Your award will be recognised on your HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Record) to mark your achievement and showcase your international profile to potential employers in your future career.

There are three activity tiers that can help you earn points toward the GlasGOw Global award:

Engage with the international scene at the University of Glasgow by learning a new language, joining an internationally orientated organisation, or become a student mentor for incoming international students.

Explore by undertaking a short-term work-based placement or period of study at another campus – an excellent way to gain an insight into another culture.

Exchange through spending time studying abroad at a partner university.

Apart from the satisfaction of recognising your achievement, as proof of your involvement in international activities, the GlasGOw Global Award could be very useful after your graduation. For example, if you apply for a postgraduate degree or job with some kind of global or international dimension.

Application process

To apply, you must be a College of Arts & Humanities student in your final year, graduating in summer 2024. If you are a student in a Joint Honours programme with the College of Social Sciences, please note that CoSS run their own GlasGOw Global awards scheme. It is up to you to choose which scheme you would like to apply to.

You will need to submit an application form and supporting evidence to arts-goabroad@glasgow.ac.uk by 31 March 2024.

More information and application submission guidance can be found on the CoAH GlasGOw Global Awards Moodle page.
