UofG alumnus announced in the 50 Most Influential Sierra Leonean Women Award

Legal Officer Joan Bull received the award in recognition of her relentless and outstanding efforts in promoting national development.

University of Glasgow Graduate, Joan Bull (MSc 2016) has received a meritorious award as one of the 50 Most Influential Women in Sierra Leone. 

Following her graduation from Glasgow, Joan has served as Senior Legal Officer and Senior State Prosecutor for the Sierra Leone Police. She now heads the Legal and Justice Support Department and is a Legal Expert in Cyber Crime and Transnational Organised Crime.

She is a gender activist and facilitator, and has been actively involved in advocating for the repeal of laws to be in tandem with contemporary expectations. She currently serves as a member of the Evidence Committee facilitating the enactment of Evidence Act in Sierra Leone. She is a trainer and has facilitated the training of personnel of the SLP including professionals in the country on various laws especially  Criminal Law and Procedures , Financial Crimes Investigations, Sexual and Gender Based Violence laws etc. 

Joan has facilitated training courses in collaboration with Healthcare Professionals on how to analyse and explain evidence collected in Legal Proceedings, Preparing Detailed Reports and Understanding Legal Provisions of Sexual Offences.
