University of Glasgow alumna, Mashal Aamir (LLB, 2017) has received a prestigious Diana Award in recognition of her humanitarian work.

The Diana Award charity, set up in memory of the late Princess Diana, exists to foster, develop, and inspire positive change in the lives of young people.

Mashal has undertaken numerous humanitarian work and voluntary placements and seeks to promote inclusivity in everything she does. She has fundraised for scholarships to help disadvantaged young people enter education, and mentored children facing barriers such as disability, who wish to enter higher education.

She has also volunteered with the International Criminal Court, the Cambridge Human Rights Law Review, and Citizens Advice Scotland, among several others.

In May 2021, Mashal received a Young Scot International Award, and was named in the 2020 YWCA Scotland Young Women’s Movement 30 Under 30 list.

Mashal is currently working as a legal assistant to Abdul Latif Yousafzai, advisor to Pakistan’s National Assembly, in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

The University is delighted that Mashal’s work has been recognised and congratulate her on this wonderful achievement.
