University of the Third Age (U3A)

Find out about becoming a member of the U3A.

This post is on behalf of Anne Walsh (Dip. Ed 1971).

What will you do with your retirement?

Have you heard of the U3A?  Already a member?  Well done!  If not, read on.

U3A is a membership organisation for those in their third age - retired or semi-retired; the third age being a stage in life rather than a specific age.  It provides the opportunity for lifelong learning in its broadest sense, enabling members to share their interests, knowledge and skills, learning from each other.  This keeps the mind and body active, raises self-esteem and forges new friendships.

How can I join U3A?

U3A is open to everyone in their third age, however they do need to be capable of participating in interest groups; U3As, being totally volunteer led organisations, cannot provide personal care.

There are U3As all over the UK but not a single one in North Lanarkshire.  If you’d like to help me remedy that, please, contact Anne on u3aistv@gmail.com.

For information on existing U3As go to www.u3a.org.uk.

Please note that U3A is not affiliated with the University of Glasgow, and is open to non-graduates.
