Four University of Glasgow medical alumni will take to the stage this September as part of the European Doctors Orchestra, helping to raise vital funds for Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS). Founded more than twenty years ago, the orchestra brings together doctors from across Europe to perform in aid of a charitable cause.

The concert will take place on Sunday 27 September 2026 at 5pm in the New Auditorium at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, and marks the first time the European Doctors Orchestra has performed in Glasgow.

Representing the University of Glasgow are alumni Thomas Barrie (Beta 1973), Kenneth Paterson (Beta 1977), Samantha Ross (Beta 1992) and Arthur Doyle (Beta 1997). Although their professional paths have spanned a range of medical specialisms, they share a longstanding commitment to music. 

Around 80 musicians are expected to travel to Glasgow for the event, celebrating the city's status as a UNESCO City of Music while supporting an important charitable cause. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), which provides vital support to babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions, and to their families.

The University of Glasgow is delighted to celebrate the achievements and community spirit of these alumni, whose involvement reflects the wide-ranging talents and lifelong contributions of graduates beyond their professional careers.
