Published: 4 March 2015
Join fellow alumni and take part in this fun parade down 6th Avenue of pipes and drummers and all things Scottish.
The 17th annual Tartan Day Parade takes place on 6th Avenue on 11 April and is the stalwart of the Scotland Week calendar.
Led by Grand Marshal, Outlander's Graham McTavish, the parade will bring together pipers and drummers from all over the world in a celebration of the contribution made to the USA by the Scots. Past marshals have include Sir Sean Connery, Scots-born actors Brian Cox, Kevin McKidd and Alan Cumming and former New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg.
Contact Jackie Smith (AAGU Treasurer) if you would like to take part with the GU Group. We know that many of the Scottish universities plan to have groups of alumni taking part so it would be great to have good representation from our community.
- Pre-parade events include a band concert in Bryant Park from 11.30am to 1.00pm.
- 1.00pm. Line-up will be on the side streets near 6th Avenue and W. 45th street.
- 2.00pm. The Parade starts at W45th Street and marches up 6th Avenue to 55th Street.
- Post-parade events to be confirmed.
