Short Description
This course will develop further understanding of human body systems with a focus on the application of knowledge and the development of practical and analytical skills. Emphasis is placed on interpreting and evaluating data, appraising experimental design, and how this informs research and practice. The course also supports the development of practical competence, science communication, and wider graduate skills that enhance employability.
Timetable
Typically four lectures per week at 9am or 11am (Monday to Friday), plus one active session (e.g. a 2-3 hour laboratory or group-based workshop). Additional non-timetabled directed-learning tasks are also included.

Assessment
The course will be assessed by means of a 1-hour examination paper in the April/May diet (30%), class test(s) (30%), and a portfolio (40%). The written examinations will normally comprise MCQs. The portfolio will typically be comprised of activities relating to analysing laboratory data and communicating scientific findings.

The aims of the course are to:
■ Deepen understanding of the structure and function of the human body through the study of integrated systems.
■ Develop practical and analytical skills through key laboratory methods and experimental design.
■ Enable students to apply and interpret data, using appropriate numerical, graphical and statistical methods to support evidence-based conclusions.
■ Enhance students' understanding of ethical and sustainable practice, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and employability.
