Apply to be a Unibuddy digital ambassador

Would you like to gain experience as a volunteer as well as helping others? We are looking for happy and enthusiastic current students and alumni to join our wonderful Unibuddy peer-to- peer community.

What is Unibuddy?

Unibuddy is a platform that allows prospective students to speak one-to-one with a member of the UofG community (student, staff, alumni) in a chat format.

Who are Unibuddies?

Unibuddies are current students or alumni who have been trained to volunteer on the Unibuddy platform to represent the University, answer questions on life as a student at the University and inspire the next generation of TeamUofG.

We currently have more than 230 students and Alumni: see Unibuddy.

What is involved?

  • Answering enquiries/maintaining conversations with new/prospective/current students
  • Sharing your best experiences at Uni to help others make a decision
  • Posting useful and appropriate content via blogs
  • Being an active member of our Community pages to help integrate new and prospective students before they arrive on campus

What are the benefits for you?

  • The work on Unibuddy is recognised by the University and is added to your Higher Education Academic Report (HEAR). Please note that you must have volunteered more than 20 hours to be eligible for this to be added to your HEAR
  • Being a Unibuddy can be a very rewarding role in terms of both personal development and enhancing your CV and professionalism and can help in future employment
  • Experience the satisfaction of helping others and sharing your unique knowledge and experience whilst acquiring new skills and attributes as a volunteer
  • Flexibility as to when you volunteer as there is no specific time or place allocated for picking up questions, it’s all via an app or desktop
  • Various socials throughout the year including the Annual Awards at the Great Big Unibuddy Social plus Volunteers Reception at the Principal’s lodgings
  • Great way to meet other volunteers from across the University and feel part of TeamUofG
  • Being a strong role model for Higher Education
  • Receive a Skills and Attributes document once you have attended training
  • Receive a Certificate of Completion when you finish volunteering
  • We will act as a referee for you
