Biography

Michal is a British Academy / Lord Kelvin Adam Smith Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Glasgow, where her research examines the relationship between homes, households, and health. She is using linked address- and individual-level administrative datasets to evaluate how improving housing quality affects the health of young children and older adults.

This fellowship builds on her previous research work, which focused on real-world policy evaluations in partnership with the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland, including the Scottish Child Payment. She completed her PhD in Social and Public Health Sciences at the University of Glasgow (2018-2022), supported by an MRC studentship. Her doctoral work developed methodological approaches for assessing causality in population health systematic reviews, examining the relationship between income inequality and health. This work was awarded the Joseph Black Medal and Hird Prize for the top PhD thesis in the Medical, Veterinary & Life Sciences Graduate School. She holds an MSc in Health Systems and Public Policy from the University of Edinburgh.
