Dr Udrea’s presentation explored the evolution of a kin-state’s duty in Ukraine’s neighbouring states with a focus on Poland. I argued that the war in Ukraine is leading to a re-articulation of a kin-state duty as a humanitarian one. Building on some available but scattered evidence from Poland primarily, I question edthe nature and extent of this humanitarian duty and its potential to shape anew kin-state – kin minority relations in Central and Eastern Europe.
