I joined the University of Glasgow in Dec. 2017. I was previously at Heriot-Watt University, 2010-2017. I am currently also adjunct professor at the University of Arizona, Tucson (USA) and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2017. I have been visiting scientist at MIT (USA), Marie-Curie fellow at ICFO, Barcelona (Spain) and ERC fellow 2012-2017. I was awarded the Philip Leverhulme Prize in Physics in 2015 and the Royal Society of Edinburgh Senior Public Engagement medal in 2017.
My research interests involve imaging and quantum technologies applied to both imaging and sensing. The research group also has a research activity in the field of analogue gravity, i.e. the study of curved spacetimes in the lab using intense laser pulses and light-matter interaction to create artificial black holes or "expanding universes".
