The School of Physics & Astronomy is very pleased to announce that Dr Morag Casey has won the award of "Best Teacher: Science & Engineering" at the University of Glasgow Student Teaching Awards.

The Students' Representative Council with the University annually hosts the student-led teaching awards as a "a chance for students to recognise the outstanding work of those members of staff who have gone above and beyond to make the learning experience, and student experience, the best it possibly can be."

In nominating her for the College-wide award, Dr Casey's first year Astronomy students wrote "we don't need teachers to simplify the topics anymore, we need teachers that challenge us in order to get better and better. She is one of those teachers, indeed, as she wants us to give out the best we could."

In accepting the award, Dr Casey said that she was very appreciative that the students' had recognised the hard work and effort that had gone into teaching them that year. She was overwhelmed by the students' kind gesture and hoped that many of them would continue on to second year Astronomy.
