Research interests

Fields of interest:

  • Feminist translation and gender studies
  • Gender and translation in modern China
  • Modern Chinese cultural and intellectual history
  • Machine translation and LLM bias
  • Ethics and politics of AI in translation

I obtained my doctoral degree from the University of Glasgow. My PhD project examines the translation/construction of gender roles and identities across a century of Chinese cultural history. Fascinated by questions spanning gender, culture, translation, and technology, I situate my research across these disciplinary and interdisciplinary domains. My current research interests address gender and cultural biases in large language models (LLMs) used as machine translation (MT) systems.
