Biography
I am a Registered Nurse (with District Nurse SPQ) and Post-Doctoral research associate, specialising in qualitative and mixed-methods research. I also lead the ENRICH Scotland network, supporting care home staff, residents and relatives to become more active and engaged in research.
I have 15 years clinical and care experience working in care homes for older adults and then in community district nursing teams, primarily in the North East of Glasgow. These experiences are embedded in my research practice; I am committed to widening research opportunities to marginalised communities in Scotland, particularly in areas with higher deprivation and remote and rural areas.
My post-doctoral programme of research focuses on improving the lives of people who live and work in care homes for older adults. I am led into my areas of investigation by sector priorities; I was a Research Assistant on an interview study investigating the impact of working through Covid-19 outbreaks in care homes, a Workpackage Lead and Co-Investigator on a focus groups Understanding Retention in Care Homes, and I am currently a Research Associate leading the development of a Co-Designed toolkit to support bereavement practices within care homes.
