Research interests

Having graduated from the University of Glasgow with Honours in Private Law (McCormick Prizewinner), Professor Crawford qualified as a Solicitor while at the same time pursuing research as Faulds Fellow in Law, leading to graduation Ph.D. in 1983 ('The Property of Married Persons According to the Law of Scotland'). She joined the School of Law in 1976, specialising in Conflict of Laws. Professor Crawford has developed a wide range of Conflict of Laws courses, and has a long record of publications and consultative work in all aspects of the field.

Professor Crawford has maintained an interest in all aspects and topics of the Conflict of Laws. Currently her principal research interest lies in the study of the process of assimilation of conflict rules of Member States of the European Union.

Research Interests

International private law/the conflict of laws, including in particular the EU programme of harmonisation of civil and commercial law, and family law, including property and succession
