For her research on a new Rock Art Research Framework for Scotland (RockARF).

Dr Louisa Campbell has been awarded a Royal Society of Edinburgh Collaboration Grant to undertake research on a new Rock Art Research Framework for Scotland (RockARF). This project will generate a comprehensive, holistic Research Framework for Scotland’s prehistoric rock art. Building on the Future Thinking on Carved Stones Framework (2016) and the Scottish Rock Art Project (ScRAP) and working with the National Committee for Carved Stones in Scotland (NCCSS) and the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, the Framework will identify priorities for future research on rock art, and provide a common language and themes for informing strategic planning, heritage practice, and inclusive engagement. Dr Campbell will work collaboratively with partner organisations to celebrate Scotland’s prehistoric rock art as part of our wider cultural heritage, and provide the knowledge to safeguard it for the future. The project will put people at the heart of the Framework through wide-reaching consultation across the heritage and community sectors and address the multiple, disparate challenges facing our understanding of rock art, and its social and cultural roles today.
