Dr Rebeka Balogh

Biography

Rebeka joined the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit in September 2024 to conduct research on the economic determinants of health. She previously worked in the SLDO within the School of Health & Wellbeing. She holds a joint PhD from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium) and the University of Warwick (UK). Her PhD thesis investigated the links between the quality of employment (trajectories) and mental health and mortality outcomes using administrative and survey data and with quantitative methods. During her PhD, she also worked on a number of national and international projects around work-related health.

Rebeka is also affiliated with the Brussels Institute for Social and Population Studies.

Research interests

My research interests include:

  • the social and economic determinants of health
  • employment and job quality & precarious employment, and their links with health and wellbeing
  • unpaid (care) work and links with health and wellbeing
  • life-course and gender equality
