Shahabedin Nabavi is a Research Associate in the School of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow, where he works with Dr Ali Gooya on artificial intelligence and computational modelling for medical imaging. He holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Cognitive Computing from Shahid Beheshti University, with doctoral research focused on automated quality assessment of CMR images using machine learning.
His research interests span medical image computing, deep learning, cardiovascular MRI, image-guided radiotherapy, and AI for healthcare. His work has contributed to CMR image reconstruction and quality assessment, medical image analysis, and AI-based radiotherapy applications. He has published in international journals and conferences and has received awards in the CMRxRecon 2024 and 2025 challenges. He also has extensive experience in teaching, research supervision, and interdisciplinary research at the intersection of AI and medical imaging.
