Biography

Anna Rezk is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Computer Science, working on the PHAWM project to develop auditing tools for predictive AI in media recommender systems. She completed her PhD in Design Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, collaborating closely with industry partner BBC R&D. Her doctoral research focused on designing for user agency in algorithmic news recommenders.

Previously, Anna worked as a Research Assistant on the Fixing the Future project at the University of Edinburgh Law School, where she designed and developed ideation cards related to legislation on repairing Internet of Things devices, facilitating user research through play. She also contributed as a Research Assistant at Abertay University on the Right 2 Roam project, conducting user studies to uncover structural inequalities in urban mobility. Anna holds an MSc in Interactive Digital Media from Trinity College Dublin and a BA in Journalism and PR from Fachhochschule Joanneum and Northumbria University.
