On June 12th 2026 we hosted the third of three events designed to publicly launch the new subject area of Cultural Industries. Over 100 people registered for ‘Does Scotland Need a Basic Income for Artists’? a public panel event featuring a range of industry experts, our own Prof. Kate Oakley, and chaired by Head of Subject, Prof. Mark Banks. This followed on from the two previous events in March and May, ‘Does Scotland Need a Culture Act’? and ‘Glasgow CWG 2026 – What Legacy for Culture This Time’? which also featured expert panellists and our colleagues Dr. Nikki Kane and Dr. Katherine Champion. The Culture Matters series was organised in conjunction with our excellent colleagues and partners at Creative Glasgow https://www.creativeglasgow.co.uk/ - and look out for more activity to come in 2026-27!
