Biography
Atefeh Talebi is a Clinical Trials Medical Statistician within the School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health at the University of Glasgow. She joined the University in 2022 and works within the BHF Cardiovascular Research Centre, contributing statistical expertise to large-scale cardiovascular clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and analyses using the UK Biobank dataset. Her work focuses on applying advanced statistical methods to investigate cardiovascular outcomes, population health trends, and risk prediction using large longitudinal datasets.
Atefeh holds a PhD in Biostatistics from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, where she graduated as a highly distinguished student and ranked first in her cohort. Prior to joining the University of Glasgow, she worked as an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at Iran University of Medical Sciences, where she taught statistics and supervised research across a wide range of health-related disciplines.
Her research interests include applied biostatistics, survival analysis, predictive modelling, machine learning, meta-analysis, cardiovascular outcomes research, and population-based cohort analysis. She has extensive experience in statistical modelling for clinical trials, observational studies, and real-world healthcare data. Her research frequently involves analysing large-scale datasets to support evidence-based decision-making in cardiovascular medicine and public health.
Atefeh has contributed to multiple international collaborations involving major cardiovascular trials and cohort studies, including DAPA-HF, DELIVER, PARADIGM-HF, ATMOSPHERE, STICH, FINEARTS-HF, and UK Biobank research projects. She has co-authored publications in leading journals including The Lancet, European Heart Journal, JAMA Cardiology, and Scientific Reports.
She has strong expertise in statistical programming and data analysis using R, SAS, STATA and Python. Her analytical work includes advanced modelling techniques, survival analysis, machine learning applications, and predictive analytics across clinical and epidemiological research settings.
Atefeh is currently undertaking the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) at the University of Glasgow, supporting her ongoing development in higher education teaching and curriculum design. Her broader interests include quantitative methods education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the application of statistical approaches to improve clinical and population health outcomes.
