Recently, Angelina Kancheva, a PGR at SCMH on the Precision Medicine Doctoral Training Program, attended the Bio-Hermes-001 Data Challenge Summit, which was hosted by the Brain Health ARC.

The Bio-Hermes Biomarker Data Challenge was an international research competition launched in February of 2024 by the Brain Health ARC, supported by Race Against Dementia, to grant researchers early access to Global Alzheimer's Platform’s Bio-Hermes-001 Biomarker dataset, the most comprehensive set of dementia biomarker data from ground-breaking blood testing study for Alzheimer’s disease. The Challenge represented an unprecedented effort of collaboration between government, academics, nonprofits and scientists.

Angelina was awarded one of the Quick Fire Presentation Awards at the event for her talk "Higher Cardiovascular Risk as Moderator of the Relationship between Blood Plasma Dementia Biomarkers and Cognitive Impairment": https://globalalzplatform.org/2025/03/27/alzheimers-data-challenge-names-winners-for-innovative-biomarker-research-competition/.

She had the opportunity to present her project at the Scottish Dementia Research Consortium Conference at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh a few weeks ago as well where all Bio-Hermes prize winners delivered a talk to celebrate the success of the challenge.

Congrats to all the winners!
