Biography

Dr Maria Truesdale was a researcher in the field of intellectual disabilites at Ulster Universtiy in Northern Ireland since 2000 and then moved to Scotland in 2016 where she took up the post of lecturer in intellectual disabilites at Edinburgh Napier University.  Maria joined the University of Glasgow in 2019 as a senior lecturer in intellectual disabilities.  Maria's multi-disciplinary and internationally recognised programme of research focuses on tackling the health inequalities faaced by people with intellectual disabilities.  Maria is currently the Solution Focused Research Theme Lead for the Scottish Learning Disabilities Observatory.  Her goal is to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of people with intellectual disabilities and thier carers through the evaluation, development and testing of complex interventions using gold standard methodology and inclusive research.
