Biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Health Economics with the Health Economics for Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) group at the University of Glasgow. I lead the Economic Evaluation alongside Clinical Trials theme within HEHTA, leading on research grants, supporting and advising researchers and collaborators, particularly regarding trial design, analysis of economic evaluations alongside clinical trials and incorporating modelling and economic evaluations of complex and public health interventions.

I co-ordinator the Health Economics for Health Technology Assessment module on the MSc for HTA and supervise a variety of post graduate research projects. I have a record of reflective, reasoned and innovative approaches to teaching, course design, assessment and evaluation and contribute to PGR learning and teaching as well as CPD course developement and teaching.

I have a track record of successful research grants from prestigious UK and international funding bodies working alongside world-leading clinical collaborators to design and undertake economic evaluations within a wide variety of health care areas.

I am a lead Health Economics Reviewer for the Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC), reviewing and presenting to the SMC New Drugs Committee, informing decision making policy in Scotland.  In addition I have extensive experience in providing expert reviews of project proposals, briefs and reports for the National institute for health research (NIHR) and am an advisory board member for the Beatson CRUK Clinical Trials Unit at Glasgow and numerous NIHR research programme projects.

I have a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Strathclyde, an MSc in Economics and Health Economics from the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) at Sheffield University, a Pg Certificate in Academic Practice and a PhD in Health Economics from the University of Glasgow.
