Karen graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2009 with an MA (Hons) in Public Policy and started working in the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit in February 2010 as a temporary employee in the Survey Office. She worked on and participated in fieldwork for a number of studies including ALICE, Twenty-07, Gay Men’s Health Study, DASH and THAW. She also worked on recruitment and administration for the Football Fans in Training (FFIT) programme in 2011.
Karen joined the Understandings and Uses of Public Health Research programme in October 2011. Her work focussed on newsprint media representations of the Scottish Government’s Minimum Unit Pricing of alcohol policy and also second-hand smoking and children.
In October 2013, she joined General Practice and Primary Care to work on a project about the management of long term health conditions in adults with learning disabilities.
