Biography

Karen is a Research Associate/ Project Manager in the Social and Public Health Sciences Unit of the Institute of Health and Wellbeing.  She is currently project manager of the THRIVE trial which sits within the Relationships programme of the Unit.  Karen joined the unit in January 2015 following 18 months as a Knowledge Exchange Officer in the Research Strategy and Innovation Office of the university.  

Karen graduated from Glasgow University in 1997 with an MA (Hons) in Politics and Social Policy and spent time in various policy officer posts before becoming a management consultant for 9 years, during which time she completed a PGDip in Local Economic Development, also at Glasgow University.   Her time as a consultant focused mainly on the evaluation of employability initiatives for public sector clients.


Research interests

Karen graduated from Glasgow University in 1997 with an MA (Hons) in Politics and Social Policy and spent time in various policy officer posts before becoming a management consultant for 9 years, during which time she completed a PGDip in Local Economic Development, also at Glasgow University.  

Karen is currently project manager of THRIVE, a large clinical trial looking at the effectiveness of two group interventions offering support to women who are vulnerable in pregnancy.  Her  research interests are in parenting interventions and study recruitment & retention.
