Biography

Fred Ho graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a BSc in Statistics and subsequently completed a PhD in Physical Activity Epidemiology in the University of Hong Kong. After finishing a one-year postdoctoral training, Fred has taken up a position in the Univeristy of Glasgow in 2019.

Fred has extensive experience using R to handle big data with complex structure, such as the UK Biobank, SMR, CPRD, Scottish/English Health Surveys , and Hong Kong CDARS. He is also proficient in various analytic techniques, including causal inference and predictive analytics.

Research interests

  • Cardiovascular epidemiology - understanding the complex interrelationships of environment, behaviour, and chronic conditions with cardiovascular diseases
  • Early life factors - identifying prenatal and childhood factors that can have long-term health consequences
  • Precision public health - transforming the current one-size-fits-all public health guidelines into bite-size personal-level advices
