Biography

Current Role

I joined the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit as a Research Associate in June 2022. I am part of the System Science in Public Health Programme and member of the SIPHER Consortium.

Using a system science approach, my research focuses on some of today’s most pressing societal challenges. Two of these key challenges I am currently exploring are the health and equity implications of population ageing, and the stalling of population health improvements in the UK. I have formal training in statistical modelling and extensive research experience in demography, public health, and health data science. Throughout my career, I have successfully worked with large-scale individual-level linked data in open and data safe haven settings. I have extensive experience working with advanced quantitative methods including microsimulation models, Markov-chain multistate models, as well as generalised linear and additive mixed models. I have a strong track-record of reproducible research practices and successful collaborations with policy partners.

Previous Positions 

Prior to my position in Glasgow, I have worked at the Diabetes Medical Informatics and Epidemiology Research Group (University of Edinburgh), and at the ERC-funded Research Group MigrantLife (University of St. Andrews). I hold a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Southern Denmark, Odense, and the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, Rostock, which I defended in March 2020.
