Environmental effects on growth: consequences for parents and offspring

This project aims to test the hypothesis that rapid growth increases levels of oxidative damage, hastens cellular senescence and reduces reproductive fitness using experimental work on three-spined sticklebacks. It will determine the cellular mechanisms that underlie whole-organism responses to environmental conditions, and in doing so will test whether changing environmental temperatures will alter rates of ageing and reproductive success.
