About African Immunobiology of Parasites, Pathogens, and Pathogenesis 2026
This course, supported by the University of Glasgow, The Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Programme and the KEMRI Wellcome Trust IDEAL training programme and Pwani University offers an expert symposium on advances in immunobiology of parasites, pathogens, pathogenesis, and grant writing. The 2026 course will be the 10th anniversary of the course and will be held from 16th - 20th March at the Devon Valley Hotel in Stellenbosch, Cape Town.
The week long course is designed for early career researchers and clincians with a PhD with a strong interest in the interaction between the immune system and pathogens and how this influences the development of various infectious and non communicable diseases. The course offers intensive, interactive learning sessions and symposia on the latest advances in immunology, immune diseases and the impact of chronic immune activity on human health. It will also cover the parasitology of malaria,HIV, TB, helminths, HPV and other viruses, including COVID-19. Led by some of the top researchers in the field, participants will have opportunities to engage in grant writing, science communication and career mentoring sessions.
Eligibility : Priority will be given to early-career researchers and clincians with a PhD or beyond.
Course Registration : The course is free for participants and includes accommodation, meals and student travel.
