Sustainability Spotlight, May 2021 - The World Plus Three Degrees

Student-led sustainability journal The World + 3 Degrees is looking for submissions from students everywhere - due date 10th June 2021.

UofG student Izzy Thomas-Horton, in her final year of studying English literature, is working in a small team of students on producing a one-off student-led sustainability journal called “The World + 3 Degrees”. They are asking for submissions considering solutions to the consequences of a world after a 3° temperature increase.

They say:

“The hope of this journal is to help refocus the lens, moving from panic and scepticism to solutions. We want to set our generation an important task; to reimagine the future so we can all start to build it.”

Other team members include:

Kirsty Campbell, who did her degree at UofG in War Studies, and is interested in the ways human interests can help solve environmental issues.

Sophie Mallett, studying for a BSc Biological Sciences at Imperial College London. She aims to pursue postgraduate study in Environmental Resource Management and Policy.

Thomas Wallace, who studies Astrophysics at UofG and is interested in the new possibilities green technologies can bring to the table in the fight against climate change.

Follow the afore-mentioned link for more information, and take note, they are getting great science based responses but they’d love to see some arts, humanities, and social science based submissions too!
