WP1: Simulation and Modelling

Modelling of individual components to understand the spectral dependency behaviour of the concentrating PV system on its optical, thermal and electrical performances

WP2: Component Fabrication

Fabrication of PV cells using triple junction wafers, development of new phase-change materials and application of thermoelectric materials will be investigated as part of this work package. We also propose phase-change materials suspended within the working fluid the overall heat capacity increases.

WP3: Subsystems Development

Includes a combined CPV/Thermoelectric/ceramic receiver coupled to a thermal transfer and storage system and supporting MPPT electronics. The combined PV/TE module will be worked on by Cardiff University in tandem with state-of-the-art MPPT for both systems will be implemented at Glasgow University.

WP4: Implementation and Optimisation

Delivery of first and second generation systems, installed in Glasgow, Cardiff, Exeter and Spain. A full socio-economic assessment will be undertaken, informed by the life-test of the system.
