Our Vision

Gambling Research Glasgow Logo

Independent insights, global impact

At Gambling Research Glasgow, our vision is to generate independent, world-leading evidence that informs effective action on gambling harms. We believe that gambling should be understood as a major public-health issue, and that only through rigorous, transparent research can effective prevention and harm-reduction strategies be developed.

We bring together the full breadth of SHAPE and STEM disciplines-spanning the social sciences, humanities, arts, public health, epidemiology, statistics, and data science-to provide a comprehensive understanding of gambling in all its socio-historical and technological complexity. By integrating these perspectives, we support the development of robust, evidence-based approaches and policies that protect individuals, families, and communities.

Free from industry influence, our work is guided by integrity and independence, ensuring that the evidence we generate serves the public interest. Our vision is a future where research translates into meaningful policies and practices that prevent harm, support those affected, and promote healthier, fairer societies.
