Published: 7 January 2010

"New Tools and Technologies for Drug Discovery and Quantitative Biology". Showcasing technology emerging from Chemical Biology Centre and RASOR. Wednesday 30th June 2010, Imperial College London.

"New Tools and Technologies for Drug Discovery and Quantitative Biology"

The development of new platform technologies underpins the progress of both biomedical sciences and basic biological research.  The Chemical Biology Centre, ICL (www.chemicalbiology.ac.uk) and RASOR Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration are multidisciplinary research organisations comprising over a hundred research groups all of whom are engaged in developing new tools and technologies for the study of biological and biomedical problems.

The purpose of this one-day technology showcase is to inform potential end-users and co-developers of those novel technologies that are expected to become available to the industrial and academic research communities in the very near future.

Featuring presentations, demonstrations, stands and posters highlighting recent developments from the CBC and RASOR.

Concluding with a Dragons' Den competition in which PhD students will showcase the commercial potential of their work to a panel of guest experts, including:

  • Prof. David Delpy, Chief Executive of Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)
  • Prof. Sir Les Borysiewicz, Chief Executive of Medicinal Research Council (MRC)
  • Prof. Douglas Kell, Executive of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)
  • Dr Paul Atherton, Non Executive Director of Imperial Innovations.

The chairman will be the host of the BBC's Dragons' Den, Evan Davis.
