Megan Miles
My name is Megan, and I am one of the PhD candidates in cohort 2 of the NorthWestBio Doctoral Training Partnership. I have been drawn to science subjects from a young age, particularly chemistry and biology, and have dragged my family around science centres more times than I can count. I completed an integrated master’s degree in chemistry with drug discovery at the University of Strathclyde in 2024, which led to me developing a keen interest in biochemistry and point of care testing.
My PhD involves a variety of interdisciplinary work between the University of Strathclyde in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry and the University of Glasgow in the School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine. My project is focused on the development of a surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor for point of care therapeutic drug monitoring in canine epilepsy.
