University of Strathclyde

The University  of Strathclyde offers  research  strengths in  relation  to  BBSRC’s  theme  of Bioscience for  renewable  resources  and  clean  growth.  It  provides expertise on microorganism biology, the production of specialised metabolites, the identification of novel antimicrobials, as well as in drug   discovery,   formulation, and   manufacture   (including   digital   formulation   design, pharmaceutical manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and life science informatics). Well-established collaborative  links  already  exist across  the Strathclyde  Institute  of  Pharmacy  and  Biomedical Sciences,  and the  departments  of  Biomedical  Engineering,  Pure  and  Applied  Chemistry, and Physics, which conduct interdisciplinary research in biology. Strathclyde also has a strong industry facing  research arm with one  of  the associate partners, the  Industrial  Biotechnology  Innovation Centre (IBioIC), being housed on campus in the Technology and Innovation Centre, which further expands the breadth of expertise in the partnership.
