Research title: “Their Dear Brethren of England” Scottish Print for an English Public, 1637 – 1652.
Research Summary
My research focuses on the international dimensions of Scottish print during The Wars of the Three Kingdoms, aiming to understand the ways that Scots deployed printing networks furth of Scotland to advance their political aims.
I am intersted in ideas of early-modern Scotland's place in both Britain and a wider European context, as well as debate over the nature of early-modern public spheres, and the ways that print culture can be seen as both a part of, and reflection of these concepts.
