Recent graduates from the Universities of Glasgow and Birmingham connected with major employers and discovered how to boost their career prospects at an event in Shanghai.
Graduates attended the Shanghai Employability Networking Event at the Longemont Hotel in Shanghai – the first major event in China held as part of the universities’ partnership with JOBS HaiGui.
Representatives from leading domestic companies such as Tencent, TCL, SF Express, Midea, Lilith Games, Huaqin Technology, Goertek, Descente, Johnson & Johnson, Hang Lung Properties, and Huaye Tiancheng were present for international talent exchange and university-industry collaboration.
The event featured representatives from participating companies addressing alumni concerns about career planning and cross-industry job transitions - helping graduates better understand employer expectations and enhance their competitiveness.
On the same day, JOBS HaiGui also hosted the “20th Overseas Returnee Talent Job Fair (Shanghai Edition).” In addition to the companies attending the dinner, many other renowned domestic and international enterprises participated, offering high-quality positions across various fields.
This dual-service model of “networking + on-site recruitment” created a one-stop employment service experience for returnees, further expanding job opportunities.
It also featured the release of the “2025 Employment Development Report for Overseas Returnees”. Compiled by JOBS HaiGui, the report offers solutions to common challenges faced by returnees in their job search and helps students to plan their career paths.
The event was led by JOBS HaiGui and co-hosted by the University of Glasgow and the University of Birmingham.

JOBS HaiGui officially signed a strategic partnership agreement with both universities. The three parties are working together to offer a range of bespoke solutions including online seminars with up-to-date information on the Chinese job market, advice on navigating recruitment processes and priority access to their large network of top employers.
They also plan further in-country networking events with alumni and employers building on the extensive networks of both universities and JOBS HaiGui.
