New directors for the National Centre for Universities and Business

The National Centre for Universities and Business has today announced that the Principal and Vice Chancellor, Anton Muscatelli, has joined the Board of Directors.

The National Centre for Universities and Business (NCUB) has today announced that Phil Smith (Vice-President, Cisco UK & Ireland) and Professor Anton Muscatelli (Principal & Vice-Chancellor, University of Glasgow) have joined the Board of Directors.

Mr Smith and Professor Muscatelli will join existing directors, Richard Greenhalgh (Chairman, NCUB), Professor Eric Thomas (Vice-Chancellor, University of Bristol), Professor Madeleine Atkins (Vice-Chancellor, Coventry University), Martin Read (Non-Executive Director, Invensys, Aegis Group, Lloyd’s), Professor Nigel Thrift (Vice-Chancellor, University of Warwick), Sir Richard Lambert (former Director-General, CBI) and Sir Roger Bone (President, Boeing UK Ltd).

Commenting on their appointment, Richard Greenhalgh, Chairman of NCUB said: “I am delighted to welcome Phil and Anton to the board. Given the increasing importance that is placed on universities and businesses working together, and our expanded remit since the publication of the Wilson Review, I am excited that their expertise and insight will help the National Centre in our mission to support world-class collaboration and contribute to economic growth and prosperity in the United Kingdom.”

Phil Smith added: “Collaboration between universities and business is critical in an increasingly global economy. I personally value the role that NCUB has to play in advancing this across the United Kingdom, and look forward to joining the board to help progress this agenda.”

Professor Anton Muscatelli added: From advancing research partnerships to improving and enhancing entrepreneurial and employability skills of students at all stages of their education, NCUB will continue to play an important role across the business and university communities. I am delighted to have been appointed to join the board, at what continues to be a significant time for the economy and our university system across the United Kingdom.
