Poetry and Painting

Three of Scotland's most popular poets come together for a special event organised collaboratively by the University's Department of Scottish Literature and Glasgow School of Art on Wednesday 30 October at 7.30pm.

Hotbeds of Genius in Images and Words

On Wednesday 30 October at 7.30pm in the Glasgow School of Art lecture theatre, the Poet Laureate of Edinburgh, Stewart Conn, the Poet Laureate of Glasgow, Edwin Morgan and Liz Lochhead, visiting Professor of Creative Writing at Glasgow University's Crichton Campus, will be reading poems and presenting paintings by Joan Eardley, Susan Valadonc, Renoir and Cezanne. The theme is 'Poetry and Painting'.

The poets and artists represent a wide range of experience and open a conversation between the arts as part of Glasgow's 'First Nights' Festival.

The event has been initiated by Alan Riach, poet and Head of the Department of Scottish Literature at the University, of Glasgow and Alexander Moffatt, Head of Painting at the Glasgow School of Art, artist of the 'Seven Poets' exhibition and curator of the current exhibition Ken Currie: Recent Works at the GSA.
