Tuesday 11 June: Citizenship Day for student teachers

The Faculty of Education at the University of Glasgow will hold a 'Citizenship Day' on Tuesday 11 June, aimed at final year student teachers. Included in the programme will be contributions from politicians, educationalists, charities and asylum seekers.

The Faculty of Education at the University of Glasgow will hold a 'Citizenship Day' on Tuesday 11 June, aimed at final year student teachers. Under the broad heading of global citizenship, themes such as participation, inclusion and values will be explored. Included in the programme will be contributions from politicians, educationalists, charities and asylum seekers. The event will be held at St Andrew's Campus, Bearsden.

Several hundred students from the Bachelor of Education Primary course and Post-Graduate Primary and Secondary courses are expected to take part. The intention is to provide the students with an opportunity to reflect on some fundamental issues in education prior to taking up their probationary posts in schools after summer.

Talks will be complemented by music, drama, debate and role playing events. Students will also have opportunities to contribute to the National Debate on School Education.
