University welcomes extra research funding

The University has welcomed today's announcement by the Scottish Executive of a ?25M increase in research funding.

"We are very pleased to see the Minister for Enterprise, Lifelong Learning and Transport and the Scottish Executive making available resources to recognise, as far as is possible at present, the very significant progress made by the Universities in Scotland in advancing their excellence in research" said the Principal, Professor Sir Graeme Davies.

"The new baseline research funding will make a significant contribution to our ability to pursue research at the highest level. We look forward to a continuing commitment to invest in the research base, to the economic, social and cultural benefit of Scotland."
