Professor appointed Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering

Richard De La Rue, Professor of Optoelectronics, appointed Fellow.

Professor De La Rue's Fellowship marks an acknowledgement of his significant contribution in the field of optoelectronic integration technology and photonic devices.

Richard De La Rue, who has worked at the University since 1971, has been a leader of optoelectronics research activity and has published extensively.

His current research is particularly concerned with photonic crystal structures and planar waveguide micro-cavities.

The Royal Academy of Engineering aims to pursue, encourage and maintain excellence across the whole field of engineering in order to promote the advancement of the science, art and practice of engineering for the benefit of the public.

Professor De La Rue will be joining the UK's most eminent engineers who use their combined wealth of knowledge and experience to meet the Academy's objectives.
