Now in its fifth year nationally, ESEA Heritage Month is a month-long programme dedicated to celebrating, acknowledging and learning about the rich histories, cultures and contributions of East and South-East Asian communities in the UK.

This year's national theme, set by besea.n, is "Evolving Threads". This is a theme that honours the ways ESEA stories, actions and solidarities are continuously woven together across generations, borders and communities. It builds on last year's theme, "Reframing Resilience," which invited reflection on both the strength and the challenges resilience represents for ESEA communities.

As part of ESEA Heritage Month 2026, the Global Majority Network and Equality, Diversity and Unit is hosting 'Evolving Threads': ESEA Scholars' Journeys Across Generations, 2-4pm, at the Drawing Room, Glasgow University Union. This is an in-person event open to all UofG staff and students. This year's national ESEA Heritage Month theme, "Evolving Threads," reflects how East and Southeast Asian communities continue to weave together stories, practices and solidarities across generations and borders. The session will bring together University of Glasgow ESEA scholars to share their personal and professional journeys, offering space for reflection and connection across the generational experiences within our university community. The session will be chaired by Professor Cindy Chew, and our panellists are Abigail Sorono, Yidan Hu, Professor Jen Ang, Dr Nai Rui Chng, and Dr Kevin Leomo. Places are limited, so please book early. To find out more and to register, click here 'Evolving Threads': ESEA Scholars' journeys across generations
