On behalf of the Association of Indian Organizations (AIO), the University of Glasgow is proud to host this important community initiative: the proposed installation of a bust of Mahatma Gandhi at Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow.
You are invited to participate in a public consultation for the installation of a Mahatma Gandhi bust in Kelvingrove Park, Glasgow. This initiative celebrates Gandhi’s timeless principles of non-violence, truth, and unity, values that resonate deeply in today’s world.
Mahatma Gandhi remains one of the world’s most influential leaders, remembered for his philosophy of non-violence (ahimsa), truth (satya), and peaceful dialogue. His enduring legacy continues to inspire global movements for justice, equality, and harmony.
The proposed installation is intended to:

- Encourage dialogue over confrontation in addressing challenges.
- Inspire young people to lead with integrity, compassion, and responsibility.
- Reflect Glasgow’s commitment to multiculturalism, sustainability, and social justice.
Your support and participation will be invaluable in shaping this initiative and ensuring it reflects the shared aspirations of our community.
We would be grateful if you could:
